"Have the Expressionists fulfilled our expectations of an art that brands the essence of life into our flesh? NO! NO! NO!"

I'm not entirely sure what German Dadist Richard Huelsenbeck meant by this statement, but it's clear that he really hated Expressionism. This lovely, sturdy tote bears an illustration from Huelsenbeck's essay "What did Expressionism want?" from the publication Der Dada 3. I suspect it was intended to mock the facile harmony of Expressionist art, which aimed to provide a mystical understanding of the human condition—but unfortunately for Huelsenbeck, his own frantic energy bled through into this illustration, and it positively vibrates with Dadist verve. Apparently everything a true Dadist touches becomes Dada.

This is a really cool tote. Please buy it, and when you carry it out on your anti-establishment missions, use #obeliskart to share it. I love seeing history in the wild.
